Same Message, 30yrs On
Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg began her push for action on climate change in August 2018.
Since then her lone voice has inspired the roar of millions. Greta's impassioned speech at the UN made headlines around the world, but it wasn't the first time a very young person stood in front of international leaders and pled for action on an impending environmental catastrophe.
In 1992, Severn Cullis-Suzuki, then just twelve years old, gave a speech at the UN with the same sense of urgency as Greta's speech in 2019. 30 years later, Severn shares her thoughts on the progress we’ve made since her speech at the UN.
